With the increased cases of sudden death related to heart diseases and health complications, women need to take out time and be more conscious of staying healthy regardless of their busy chores and responsibilities.
I bring to you some health tips;
PAP SMEAR CHECK-UP
A Pap smear test is a procedure to test cervical cancer in women, it's done by collecting cells from the narrow, lower part of the uterus called the cervix. It's highly recommended for women at age of 21 - 40 to conduct a pap smear test every 3 years. Women at age 50 and above are advised to conduct the test at least every 5 years if it's done alongside HPV. It's good to know that the early detection of cancerous changes in cervix, increases the chance of cancer management or survival.
HUMAN PAPILLOMAVIRUS TEST
Human papillomavirus(HPV) is a sexually transmitted disease, that causes warts in any part of the body. HPV test is important for women because is the primary predisposing or risk factor for cervical cancer in women. Often this test is done alongside a pap smear test.
BREAST EXAMINATION
Breast examination should be done by women of all age categories, either mammography or self-examination
Mammogram: This is the use of an x-ray to examine the breast for screening and diagnosis. The purpose of this test is for the early detection of breast cancer. A mammogram is recommended for women at age 40 -50 once a year while one in 2 years for women age 55 and above.
The self-breast examination is also important for younger women who are not yet of age for a mammogram
GET ACTIVE
The place of physical activity can not be overemphasized in healthy living. With the increased cases of heart disease and attacks, exercises are highly recommended for women for at least 30 minutes daily. It must not necessarily be strenuous but taking a walk, dance, skipping, etc.
AVOID ALCOHOL AND DRUGS
Alcohol and drugs have a great negative impact on your health as a woman mentally and physically.
LEISURE:
Taking time out to go to the field, gardens, and recreational centers have a way of reducing stress and improving your mental health. take yourself out, and do things that make you happy.
EAT HEALTHILY
Eating healthily doesn't mean eating quantity but eating nutrients in a balanced proportion.
Eat food rich in fibers, low in saturated fat content, reduce salt intake, eat more fruits and vegetables, and drink more water.
MENTAL HEALTH
Guard your mental health with all diligence, stay away from negative talks, do things that makes you happy, if you have pressing issue talk to somebody knowable enough to advice you.
